Refrigerator Truck

Food manufacturers and grocery store chains commonly use refrigerator trucks for transporting frozen goods and foods that require to be chilled while in transit.

Tanker

These trucks sport a long tube at the back designed to carry liquids. The most common tanker is an oil truck and is often used by petroleum companies.

Flatbed

These trucks are generally used for logging or transporting lumber. They can easily carry heavy loads, but cannot carry fluids.

Refrigerated Trailer

Refrigerated trailers are primarily dry vans but are insulated. They have a cooling system to keep the stored goods fresh. This type of trailer is mainly used for frozen foods. Sometimes pharmaceutical goods are also shipped via reefers.

Lowboy Trailers

The lowboy trailers are the beast of a choice for hauling heavy loads which are taller than the legal height for other trailers. These are often used for heavy-duty construction equipment.

Step Deck Trailers

Step deck trailers are closely similar to flatbed trailers. The only difference is that the maximum freight height of a step-deck trailer is 10 feet. They are designed to carry things that can not be carried by flatbed trailers.

Extendable flatbed trailers

These trailers are exactly what they sound like. They are flatbeds that can stretch long from about 43-foot to 80 feet. The extendable flatbed trailers are equipped to support long loads, so one does not have to worry about the load hanging off the edge of the trailer.

Extendable double drop trailers

The extendable double drop trailers are used to carry items that are significantly longer and can’t be transported using a regular double drop trailer. The most commonly carried items include freight containers and construction equipment.

Multi-car trailers

These trailers are so common that it’s imperative to mention them. They are technically specialty carriers having varying requirements based on the state you’re in. They can carry from two vehicles up to eight cars anywhere. Once the vehicles are on the trailer, the driver will triple-check that the vehicles remain in place for the haul.
